Journals, guest books, sketchbooks, books, photo albums and boxes
Each book is unique and has an awe of great design and creation, starting life as a mere spontaneous idea. I devote my soul to creation of each book and, as an end result, it shines, eludes the warmth from my hands and heart. I build each book the old world way using hand tools - an awl, needle and thread, ruler, bone folder... Materials, tools and binding methods are the same as used thousand years ago. I am always open to consider any commission proposal.
Book restoration and conservation
I have over 15 years experience in book conservation, restoring and rebinding old books and have many satisfied customers. I do all kinds of general repairs to books - broken sewing, detached, broken or loose covers, leather or book cloth torn or lifting away from the cover... I can repair, restore or rebind your books to good condition as near as possible to its original state and make sure that they are usable but retaining as much as possible of the original binding and using the same or sympathetic materials to make the repairs.
I conduct many traditional bookbinding and creative book-making workshops, demonstrations and talks across the UK, as well as being a bookbinding and book-making tutor at Malvern Hills College (Malvern School of Art) since January 2011 where I run my Bookbinding&Book conservation and Creative Book-making classes termly.
I teach small groups and one-to-one on request - please contact me for details email@example.com.
What do I most enjoy about teaching? Passing on my passion and enthusiasm for all hand-bound books. I love when students get 'fired up' through something they have been shown and see them gain confidence.
Please see workshops section at the top for information about upcoming workshops.
