Artist's Statement

Anna Yevtukh studied art and bookbinding in Ukraine and has been making unusual creative books since 1998.
She believes a book should not merely be perceived as a means from which to read or write within. Primarily, her books are objects of art, designed from considerable thought, created from passion, eluding energy, and constructed to the highest quality.
Anna likes to experiment with different materials and put them in a new and unexpected context.
She believes that computers will never replace real books; that machine will never replace a man; that nothing will replace face-to-face conversation. In an age of mass production, something HANDMADE is to be treasured.
Anna is a member of the Society of Bookbinders, Designer Bookbinders and the local Guild of Designer Craftsmen.
She exhibits on a regular basis at sellected exhibitions and selling fairs with her work represented in numerous private collections worldwide.

Education:
- 1989-1993: School of Art - studied all aspects of art;
- 1993-1997; Art College - studied frescos, mosaics, painting, murals, embroidery and tapestry;
- 1997-2003; National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kiev, Ukraine; within Graphic Faculty and worshop of Professor V J Chebanyk - gained diploma "Artist of book decoration";
- 2003-2006: Post graduation at National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kiev, Ukraine; within Design Faculty
